Tips to living amongst the stars in the Bangkok skyline Posted on March 6, 2025June 30, 2025 By Becky I’m not a fan of the noise, traffic, or sheer scale of sprawling metropolises—but I absolutely love visiting them. It’s a strange contradiction. From Addis Ababa to Zurich, I seek out the must-see sights that genuinely excite me, book the best places to stay, and explore just enough to leave me wanting more. Big cities are full of attractions—restaurants, entertainment, museums, shopping districts—and it’s tempting to cram everything into a tight schedule. But here’s the truth: you won’t see it all. And you don’t need to. Let go of the urge to check every box. Instead, slow down, savour each moment, and leave while you’re still curious. That’s how you create lasting memories. Have you ever been so enamoured with someone that you couldn’t wait to see them again? That’s the goal. If every trip leaves you with that kind of longing, you’ll find yourself eager to return—and more fulfilled for it. Start With Rest and Comfort When family or friends plan a trip to Thailand, I give them one piece of advice: make a list, not a schedule. After a long flight, they’re often exhausted. That’s when I whisk them away to their Bangkok 5 star luxury hotel. With world-class service, luxurious amenities, and serene comfort, it’s the perfect way to recharge before diving into the city’s vibrant chaos. Dive In (or Don’t) – At Your Own Pace Some of my younger friends land ready to party. We’ll head straight to Khao San Road—a bustling hub of food, drinks, dancing, and adventure. Once, two friends and I went straight from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Khao San for nine hours of non-stop revelry. They slept for fourteen hours afterward and woke up ready to go again. For me, when the city noise starts to wear thin, I turn to Thailand’s wellness culture. Thailand’s health and wellness retreats and traditional Thai massage offer the perfect escape. Despite their petite size, Thai massage therapists always amaze me with their ability to knead out every stubborn knot. Eat, Explore, Repeat After a massage, it’s time to refuel. If you don’t have a local friend (like me!) to show you around, book a guided Bangkok food tour. You’ll discover everything from bustling street markets to elegant wine bars and gastropubs that cater to every craving. And if there’s just one thing you must do while in Bangkok, it’s dine at a skyline restaurant. Seeing the city lit up from above—especially with the Chao Phraya River glistening below—is unforgettable. Be sure to spend time in the historic district too. The Grand Palace is nearby, and just wandering any soi reveals a collage of temples, food carts, and unexpected treasures. A Final Thought Even if you live in Thailand but typically avoid the capital, a visit can be eye-opening, and the Thai Tourism website is there to help you plan your visit. There’s too much to do in a single trip, and trying to see it all will only exhaust you. Instead, go in with an open mind—and leave wanting more. FAQs – Plan a great trip to Bangkok!
